I recently saw The Truman Show and it got me thinking. The film is
about an average guy, played by Jim Carey. His life is being taped 24
hours a day, 7 days a week and broadcast throughout America. People sit
around their TV sets watching Truman’s life unfold. Truman, however,
does not know that his life is being watched by millions of Americans.
Everyone else, including his wife, know about this and are simply part
of a cast. This is an interesting concept that got me thinking.

What if our lives were a TV show watched by millions? What if although we didn’t know it, we were part of an elaborate scheme to entertain America? What if? What if? What if? I would rather be on Family Guy than have my own TV show. My life as I see it has little commercial value. I would prefer to live my life as Glenn Quagmire on Family Guy. What more could anyone ask for? The man is a pilot, single and is portrayed as a sex starved and hilariously funny guy. Okay, maybe the sex starved bit isn’t so appealing.

On second thought, I would like to be part of Heroes. I could have some
power within, like flying or maybe the office worker who can stop,
rewind and fast forward time. Wouldn’t that be interesting? I think it
would. Imagine the things I could do with such powers. I could probably
go back in time and change the outcome of the last presidential
election. If I could do that I would definitely be a hero. Wouldn’t I?
I would also probably go check out the future. Haven’t you ever
wondered what lies over there? What will the outcome of the War on
Terror be? Who will be the next president? Will I be dead or will I
still be alive in 20 years time? Who will win the next Super Bowl? I
probably could make some money on bets if I knew that. I don't believe
one should not use their powers for their own benefit. That’s just a
little lame. True, one should use one’s powers for the greater good and
to protect those who are less powerful and to help the innocent. But I
think after all that hard work, I deserve a little something for
myself. Don’t you think?

I think I am getting a little carried away with this wishful thinking. Enough of this rambling, I need to go into the future and stop my neighbor from stealing my newspaper.

This reminds me of the book by Geroge Orwell. He predicted that we will be watched 24/7. big borther have copied his concept and the trueman show just pushed it a bit more.
